Mr. Luigi Jacobini invites a group of friends to convene and found the Banca Popolare di Bari

Birth of the first bank counter in Umberto Square (corner of Via Prospero Petroni). CEO: Luigi Jacobini

The first city branch opens in proximity to the historic center of Bari.
1969
The new branch office opens in the town of Rutigliano.
1973
Inauguration of the new BPB main office in Bari, at C.so Cavour, 84 (the offices move away from the historic center).
1976
Luigi Jacobini receives the “Marazza” Award for “having contributed to the economic progress in Bari and vicinity”.
1976
In collaboration with 28 other credit institutions, including Cariplo, Generali and RAS, Jacobini establishes the regional credit institution, Mediocredito, in Apulia.
1978
At the age of 76, Luigi Jacobini expires.
1989
Marco Jacobini becomes CEO of the Banca Popolare di Bari.
1997/1999
The Banca Popolare di Bari group is instituted thanks to the merger with Banca Popolare della Penisola Sorrentina and Banca Popolare di Calabria.
2000
Merger with Nuova Banca Mediterranea.
2007
Acquisition of 43 branches in the South-Central region.
